Case Study
My Role:
Logo Design, Branding, Wireframing, Mockup, Creating Brand Assets
Tools Used:
Adobe Illustrator: Used for logo creation, vector-based design elements, and branding materials.
Adobe Photoshop: Used for editing images.
Adobe XD: Used for wireframing, UI design, and prototyping.
The Challenge:
The most difficult part was to design a modern and minimalist brand image while at the same time showing deep appreciation for sustainability. The design had to capture the attention of a progressive audience that is concerned with fashion and sustainable fashion. The logo, branding, and site had to be loud but not too overpowering. The whole look needed to be representative of the sustainable materials used in the clothing while being exceptionally stylish and edgy.
Research & Concept Development:
The first thing I wanted to do was in-depth research into fashion brands that have an emphasis on sustainability. I conducted research into a number of clothing companies which are very prominent for their environmentally friendly programs and modern aesthetics. Patagonia, Reformation, and Everlane were the primary inspirations, particularly because of their minimal and simple looks and ecological sensitivity.
I also considered the target market—environmentally conscious consumers looking for stylish, high-quality clothing that doesn't compromise on sustainability. This dictated the overall style and tone of the brand.
Art Direction & Visual Style:
For Remod's visual identity, I decided to go for a clean design that focuses on sleek typography and a black and white color palette. The incorporation of negative space reflects the sustainable nature of the brand and the belief that “less is more” perfectly captures the essence of the brand.
The font used had to be modern, legible, and unique at the same time. To fit the clean aesthetic, I chose “Manrope”, a sans serif font that is simple yet modern. I wanted to ensure the shape of the brand is retained along with the simplicity and modernity that was expected at the same time.
Logo Design
The Remod logo was designed with simplicity and elegance, which reflects the company's minimalist and modern style. The logo has all lowercase letters, giving the impression of subtle sophistication and approachability. The clean, sans-serif typeface of the logo suits the company's clean and straightforward image.
Under the main logo, I also incorporated a subtle reference to international fashion expertise through the inclusion of leading fashion cities—i.e., New York, London and Los Angeles. The addition references the global community of fashion and maintains the general simplicity of the overall appearance. The location of the cities in lower case at the bottom gives elegance without losing the simplicity of the clean, dramatic look of the main logo itself. This design choice not only solidifies Remod's connection with the fashion industry but also that of its international reach and popularity.
App Mockup:
The mockup of the app is one of the most important aspects in presenting the brand online. I used Adobe XD to create a simple, straightforward interface, which suited Remod's minimalistic aesthetic. The homepage features images of clothing, as the clothes are meant to be the main focus of Remod.
The color palette for the proposed app matched the branding elements in use, with whites, blacks, and light grays, this allowed the clothing to take the center stage. The mockup was design with simplicity in mind, to ensure the user goes through product categories, learn some of the green initiatives within the brand, and make purchases into collections.
To emphasize sustainability, I created a page on the app explaining Remod's sustainability efforts, the materials used, the manufacturing process, and how the company is actively working to reduce waste.
Conclusion:
Sustained effort and eco-friendly design choices allowed me to develop a visual identity for Remod that successfully caters to the ethos of modern and eco-friendly fashion. The fusion of minimalistic design, powerful typeface, and neutral palettes makes Remod a fierce competitor in the fashion industry by attracting consumers who appreciate style and sustainability. This project was successful in showing how branding can convey crucial values of a brand and remain attractive at the same time.
